The department of "Constitutional, international law and customs affairs of the department" has a solid scientific potential, allowing to solve urgent scientific and practical problems of state and legal development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The teaching staff of the department has a wealth of experience in teaching, educational and scientific activities.

The department is headed by a renowned scientist, Doctor of Law, Professor K. Aytkhozhin. The faculty includes eight doctors of law, eleven candidates of law, nine masters of law. The main directions of the department's research work is the study of the formation and development of Kazakhstani statehood, the theory of state and law, constitutional law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, administrative law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, constitutional law of foreign countries, international public law, problematic issues of ensuring and protecting human rights and freedoms and citizen, customs affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The faculty of the department takes an active part in the preparation and solution of theoretical and practical issues of real interaction between the branches of government.

The department actively cooperates with the Presidential Administration, Parliament, Government, Constitutional Council and with other state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as international organizations. Doctors of Law, Professor Zhalairi O. and Aytkhozhin K. regularly participate in international scientific and practical conferences, including the August Readings dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic, as well as round tables and other events held by the Constitutional Council and the Ombudsman.

The department "Constitutional, international law and customs" is a reliable partner of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Cooperation with the Constitutional Council includes different directions, mainly the participation of scientists, in constitutional proceedings and research work.

Doctors of law, professors Zhalairi O., Aitkhozhin K. and Alibayevа G. in 2010, 2015 and 2017, took part in the preparation of scientific and practical comments on the Constitution, dedicated to the 15th and 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2015, doctors of legal sciences, professors Zhalairi O. and Aytkhozhin K. also took part in the preparation of the collective monograph "Constitutional control in Kazakhstan: the doctrine and practice of strengthening constitutionalism", dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic and highly appreciated by prominent foreign experts. According to the materials in the proceedings of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the opinion of the Eurasian Law Academy named after D.A. Kunaev, and doctors of legal sciences, professors Zhalairi O. and Aitkhozhin K. constantly participate in the preparation of expert opinions on materials that are in the production of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Doctor of Law, Professor Zhalairi O., Aitkhozhin K.,. Alibayevа G. took part in the preparation of scientific and practical explanations of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dedicated to the 15th and 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Basic Law of the country. Professor Aitkhozhin K. is also a Human Rights Advisor to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for the Republic of Kazakhstan. Associate Professor Birzhanova K. took part in the republican competition of scientific articles dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic, organized by the Constitutional Council.

The department regularly holds round tables, meetings with representatives of other universities, as well as other activities of the academy. The department regularly discussesnmonographs, textbooks, dissertations and other scientific works.

Currently, Doctor of Law, Professor Zhalairi O., Alibayeva G., as prominent state scientists, are members of the Joint Dissertation Council of the Kyrgyz State Law Academy under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The staff of the department pay great attention to research work with students. The department has a research circle of young scientists "Intellect", where the most acute and global problems of the constitutional system in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the CIS countries and abroad are discussed with students, undergraduates and doctoral students. The department also holds regular master's readings, where the results of scientific research of young scientists are discussed.

Leading teachers of the department conduct student scientific sections on the theory of state and law, constitutional, administrative and international law. The department constantly organizes university, republican and international conferences on topical issues of constitutional, administrative, financial and international law, and also conducts active educational work among students and undergraduates with the invitation of employees and representatives of law enforcement agencies, international organizations and non-governmental organizations of Kazakhstan.

The teaching staff of the Department of "Constitutional, International Law and Customs" were awarded state prizes, honorary titles and certificates for their work in the field of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Including in the 2010, 2016 and 2020 academic year, Doctor of Law, Professor Zhalairi O., Aitkhozhin K. and Alibayevа G. were awarded jubilee state awards dedicated to the anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Professor Zhalairi O. was awarded the Badge "Honorary Lawyer of Kazakhstan", established by the Kazakhstani Union of Lawyers and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for his services in training qualified specialists.

The teachers of the department also regularly take part in various events held by the Eurasian Law Academy, Akimat of Almalinsky District and Akimat of Almaty.

For the first time in the 28-year history of education, Eurasian Law Academy named after D. A. Kunayev awarded diplomas of its own sample to graduates of 2021. In 2021, 836 students graduated from the Academy, 731 of them have an academic bachelor's degree, 15-a Master of Law, 90-a Master of Master of Legal Sciences.
